We all understand the truth that the use of matter depends to a large extent on the nature of the matter. Aluminum has a very wide range of uses because of its many excellent properties.

1. Aluminum has good ductility (its ductility is second only to gold and silver) and can be made into aluminum foil thinner than 0.01 mm at 100 to 150. These aluminum foils are widely used in packaging cigarettes, candy and so on. They can also be made of aluminum wire, aluminum strip and all kinds of aluminum products.

Two, aluminum is a good conductor of heat, and its thermal conductivity is 3 times larger than that of iron. Aluminum can be used in manufacturing all kinds of heat exchangers, heat dissipating materials and cookers.

Three, the density of aluminum is very small, only 2.7 g/cm3, although it is relatively soft, but it can be made of all kinds of aluminum alloys, such as hard aluminum, superhard aluminum, antirust aluminum, cast aluminum and so on. These aluminum alloys are widely used in manufacturing industries such as aircraft, cars, trains, ships and so on. In addition, a large number of aluminum and its alloys are also used for space rockets, space shuttles and satellites. For example, a supersonic aircraft is made up of about 70% of the aluminum and its alloys. A large amount of aluminum is used in the construction of ships, and the amount of aluminum used in a large passenger ship is often thousands of tons.

Four, the conductivity of aluminum is only inferior to that of silver and copper. Although its conductivity is only 2/3 of copper, its density is only 1/3 of copper. So the quality of transporting the same amount of electricity and the quality of aluminum wire is only half of that of copper wire. The oxide film on the surface of aluminum not only has corrosion resistance, but also has a certain degree of insulation. Therefore, aluminum is widely used in electrical manufacturing industry, wire and cable industry and radio industry.

Five, aluminum combustion in oxygen can release a lot of heat and bright light, commonly used in the manufacture of explosive mixture, such as ammonium aluminum explosive (by ammonium nitrate, charcoal powder, aluminum powder, soot and other combustible organic mixture), combustion mixture (such as bombs and shells with thermite can be used to do to attack fire targets or tanks, artillery and other) and lighting (such as a mixture containing 68% barium nitrate, aluminum powder 28%, shellac, 4%).

Six, the surface of aluminum is vulnerable to corrosion due to its dense oxide protective film. It is often used to make chemical reactors, medical devices, refrigeration devices, petroleum refining units, oil and natural gas pipelines, etc.

Seven, aluminum has sound absorption performance, sound effect is also better, so the ceiling of the broadcasting room, modern large building indoor and so on also use aluminum.

Eight, aluminum powder has silver and white luster (the color of common metal is black in powder). It is commonly used to make coatings, commonly known as silver powder and silver paint, so as to protect iron products from corrosion and beauty.

Nine, the reflection property of aluminum plate to light is also good, reflecting ultraviolet ray is stronger than silver, and the purity of aluminum is better. So the reflectivity of aluminum plate is better, so it is commonly used to manufacture high quality reflector, such as solar cooker reflector, etc.

Ten, thermite used to smelting of refractory metal and welded steel etc..  Aluminum is also used as a deoxidizer in the process of steelmaking. Aluminum powder and graphite, titanium dioxide (or other high melting point metal oxides) are mixed evenly at a certain rate. They are coated on metal and calcined at high temperature to make high temperature resistant cermet. It has important applications in rocket and missile technology.
